Job Description:
This Business Development Manager role is focused on developing and strengthening customer relationships, growing existing accounts, and identifying commercial opportunities across an established customer base. Working closely with the General Manager, the Business Development Manager will become a trusted point of contact for customers, taking the time to understand their operations, future requirements, and business objectives. Through regular customer engagement, site visits, and relationship development, you will help ensure the business remains the supplier of choice whilst uncovering opportunities to increase account value and support long-term growth.
The successful Business Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with existing customers, identifying additional revenue opportunities, and ensuring a consistently high level of customer service. You will work collaboratively with internal teams to understand customer requirements and help deliver solutions that strengthen long-term partnerships. Alongside account development activities, the Business Development Manager will also identify and pursue new opportunities within the market, helping to introduce the business to prospective customers and supporting wider growth initiatives.
This is a highly autonomous Business Development Manager position that would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, creating trust, and developing long-term partnerships rather than operating within a purely transactional sales environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Business Development Manager, Account Manager, Sales Manager, Key Account Manager, or similar commercial role
- Strong relationship-building and customer development skills
- Experience managing and growing customer accounts
- Ability to identify opportunities to increase revenue within existing relationships
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Commercially minded with a proactive approach
- Experience within engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, or technical sectors would be highly advantageous
