Company Overview: We are recruiting for a growing, award winning and innovative manufacturer of mechanical products in their search for a new Mechanical Design Engineer.

Job Description: As a mechanical design engineer you will be part of a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, testing and introduction of new products. You will design components and systems using SolidWorks and other design tools in a range of materials and considering a wide range of manufacturing processes from aluminium casting to plastic injection moulding.

Responsibilities:

  • Solve complex engineering problems using mechanical engineering principles including the definition of materials.
  • Use 3D and 2D CAD to generate models and drawings of components and assemblies.
  • Use FEA to analyse design performance.
  • Create and maintain bills of materials.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  • Create specifications that can be used in the procurement of bought out components.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure product feasibility.
  • Building and testing of prototypes and engineering samples.
  • Workshop engineering – Hands‑on development.
