Maintenance and Facilities Engineer

Location: Bishop Auckland
Salary: £42,000 – £46,000 PA

Working Hours

Day Shift (flexitime available)
Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 5pm
Friday 4pm Finish

Job Description

As a Maintenance and Facilities Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving electrical and mechanical systems within the manufacturing environment. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement, and ensuring smooth operations with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Writing reports and managing engineering projects
  2. Working with engineering drawings and geometrical tolerance
  3. Developing strong working relationships with HSE and Fire Authorities
  4. Facilitating personal training and development plans for direct reports
  5. Communicating any operational concerns to the Operations Manager
  6. Managing department budgets
  7. Diagnosing faults and conducting timely repairs to minimize production disruptions

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this Maintenance and Facilities Engineer role, you should have:

  1. Time-Served Apprenticeship / Electrical or Mechanical
  2. HNC Maintenance Qualification (desired, not essential)
  3. Minimum of five years’ experience in the manufacturing industry
  4. Strong electrical fault-finding skills and facilities awareness
  5. Exposure to having worked upon PLC’s
  6. Experience in managing contractors in a facilities capacity
  7. Strong reactive maintenance and fault diagnostics upon a range of machinery
