Our client is a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business operating within a large-scale industrial environment. With continued investment in their site, equipment and engineering function, they are looking to strengthen their maintenance team with the addition of a skilled Shift Electrician. Working Hours: 12-hour continental shift pattern covering days and nights.
Job Description:
As a Shift Electrician, you will play a key role in maintaining plant reliability and minimising production downtime within a busy manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, fault finding on electrical systems, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Attending and resolving electrical breakdowns quickly and safely
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities
- Fault finding on PLC-controlled systems and production equipment
- Working with inverters, drives and control systems
- Reading, modifying and interpreting electrical drawings
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures
- Following and adhering to LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures at all times
- Communicating effectively with production and engineering teams during shift handovers
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ electrical maintenance experience within manufacturing or industrial environments
- 17th / 18th Edition qualification
- Strong PLC fault finding experience (Allen Bradley desirable)
- Experience working on automated production machinery
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems
- Understanding of electrical control systems and inverters/drives
- Experience working safely under LOTO procedures
- Strong problem-solving ability and team-working mindset
Desirable:
- Allen Bradley PLC programming knowledge
- Experience within heavy process, manufacturing, paper, board or industrial environments
- Experience working shifts in a 24/7 operation
- Experience working with gas systems/processes
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
