Job Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a NPI Engineer to join a fast-growing advanced manufacturing organisation in Sedgefield. The NPI Engineer will lead the introduction of new RF and microwave products from development and prototype stages into stable, scalable production. The successful NPI Engineer will work closely with RF design, manufacturing, quality, mechanical, and test engineering teams to ensure products are fully prepared for volume manufacture. The NPI Engineer will coordinate pilot builds, drive manufacturing readiness activities, and support process validation across a range of advanced electronics technologies.
Key responsibilities include managing NPI plans, supporting DFM/DFA reviews, developing process documentation, defining tooling and fixturing requirements, and improving manufacturing efficiency through structured problem-solving methodologies. The NPI Engineer will also analyse production data, support production ramp-up activities, and lead root cause investigations to improve yield and product reliability. This role would suit a hands-on NPI Engineer with experience in high-precision manufacturing environments such as electronics, semiconductor, automotive, or power electronics industries. The company is particularly interested in individuals with strong industrialisation and process improvement experience gained within highly regulated or quality-driven manufacturing environments. The NPI Engineer will have the opportunity to work within a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility while contributing to the growth of advanced UK manufacturing capability and next-generation communications technology.
Skills & experience:
- Degree or HND qualified in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience working as an NPI/Design or Product Engineer within full product life cycle and integration roles.
- Experience working with technical or sub assembly products.
- Experience transitioning products from prototype or development stages into production.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing readiness processes.
- Experience within high-precision manufacturing sectors such as electronics, automotive, semiconductor, or power electronics.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
