Job Description:
The successful Design Engineer and Senior Design Engineer will support the development of advanced subsea and mechanical engineering products from concept through to manufacture and project delivery. Both roles will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, supporting product development, engineering calculations, technical documentation, and client project delivery.
The Design Engineer will focus on detailed design activities, CAD modelling, engineering calculations, prototyping, testing, and supporting manufacturing processes. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop technically within a fast-paced engineering environment while gaining exposure to innovative product development projects.
The Senior Design Engineer will take greater ownership of technical project delivery, leading design reviews, overseeing engineering deliverables, supporting client interactions, and mentoring junior engineers. The Senior Design Engineer will also provide technical guidance across projects, review contract requirements, and coordinate engineering activities to ensure delivery against project and commercial objectives.
Responsibilities across both positions include:
- Producing conceptual and detailed designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Carrying out engineering calculations, structural analysis, and FEA activities
- Supporting product development, testing, and manufacturing processes
- Creating technical reports, calculations, and manufacturing drawings
- Participating in design reviews and ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Supporting client meetings and project delivery activities
- Collaborating closely with internal engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams
Skills & experience:
Design Engineer:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience within a design engineering environment
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles including structural and thermal analysis
- Experience with 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, ANSYS, or similar software beneficial
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn within a technical environment
Senior Design Engineer:
- Significant experience within a Senior Design Engineer or advanced design engineering role
- Proven background in product development, structural analysis, and project delivery
- Experience leading technical activities and mentoring junior engineers
- Strong understanding of offshore engineering standards and manufacturing processes
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, FEA analysis, and engineering calculations
- Experience within Offshore Wind, subsea, Oil & Gas, or heavy engineering sectors
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and engage confidently with clients and stakeholders
