Job Description
As a CNC Machinist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality precision engineering. You will operate large CNC machine tools, ensuring production requirements are achieved efficiently and safely while maintaining outstanding quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operating CNC machines/work centres safely and in line with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Working collaboratively with production control, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Machining to exacting engineering drawings and specifications, maintaining accuracy and consistency.
- Editing and modifying CNC programs when required.
- Recording work accurately via the shop floor system, ensuring activities align with production schedules.
- Carrying out inspections using a wide range of calibrated measuring equipment.
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices and trainees within the machine shop.
- Demonstrating a proactive approach to Health & Safety by following company policies.
- Undertaking additional duties to support the success of the wider team and business.
Skills & Experience
- Time-served engineering background or equivalent qualifications.
- Solid experience in CNC machining Turning and milling.
- Knowledge of CNC mill/turn machinery and 5-axis machining (advantageous).
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings with confidence.
- Competence in self-inspection, using various measuring instruments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive, adaptable, and motivated approach to work.
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in engineering, plus completed apprenticeship or practical experience.
