Salary: Up to £44,686.56 + £8,191.05 shift allowance (£52,877.61 total annual package)

This Maintenance Technician opportunity offers a total annual package of up to £52,877.61, including shift allowance, alongside the chance to work with a variety of manufacturing equipment and contribute to ongoing engineering improvements.

The Company

We are recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturing business based in Washington, Tyne and Wear. With a strong focus on operational efficiency, continuous improvement and maintaining high production standards, this company offers an excellent opportunity to join a busy engineering team.

They are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician who can hit the ground running, take ownership of maintenance challenges and play a key role in keeping production running smoothly.

Working Hours

Three-shift rotation:

  • Day Shift: 07:00 - 15:40
  • Back Shift: 15:30 - 23:25 (Friday finishes at 23:00)
  • Night Shift: 23:15 - 07:10 (Sunday starts at 23:20)

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving manufacturing machinery to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, implementing effective repairs and resolving breakdowns.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Installing, maintaining and refurbishing new and existing machinery.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and increased equipment reliability.
  • Working closely with production teams, external suppliers and other departments.
  • Managing maintenance records, spare parts, purchase orders and stock levels.
  • Supporting safe working practices, quality standards and cost reduction initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing machinery within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to work independently.
  • Experience carrying out preventative maintenance and responding to machinery breakdowns.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, health and safety and equipment reliability.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility to work a rotating three-shift pattern.
