We are seeking an Intermediate Data Engineer in Manchester to join our rapidly growing Data Engineering team. This role is for someone passionate about building innovative solutions, exposed to new challenges, and motivated to make an impact. It is available to existing Clions with suitable skills and interests.

What our team does

Our Data Engineering team delivers an incredible experience for our customers—Clions and Clio clients. As a Data Engineer, you will build data pipelines from scratch, make data sets accessible to partner teams, and help build the platform and tools for data at Clio by writing production‑ready code.

A day in the life

  • Implement data ingestion (real‑time and batch) using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and leveraging Azure technologies.
  • Design, build, and maintain data transformation pipelines and notebooks, consolidating various data sources into Data Lakes or Data Warehouses.
  • Collaborate with engineers to adopt best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Develop prototype or proof‑of‑concept implementations where the technical solution is unknown or unproven.
  • Build interactive reports for internal and customer consumption.

Skills you may have

  • Experience in software development and data engineering or analytics.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure).
  • Proficiency in at least one major language (Python, Spark SQL, or Scala) and SQL, plus a drive to write elegant, maintainable code.
  • Experience with streaming and batch data tools: Spark, Airflow.
  • Data warehousing experience with MS Fabric or similar.
  • Experience using visualization tools (Power BI).
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to derive clarity in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience with mirroring or other replication tools.
  • You are a self‑starter and thrive on feedback.
