Job Description:

Job Description

Join our clients’ specialist Housing Management team, where you’ll handle challenging and rewarding litigation work for a strong client base of registered providers. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx) with solid litigation experience to make an impact—both in court and within the team.

Our client has the ambition to be the first-choice regional law firm in the South West — and a national leader in their specialist sectors. They value diversity, encourage individuality, and create a workplace where everyone can thrive.

What You\’ll Be Doing

You’ll manage a varied caseload relating to the day-to-day legal challenges of housing providers. Typical matters include:

  • Disrepair claims

  • Anti-social behaviour injunctions

  • Breach of tenancy and possession proceedings

  • Land and property disputes (e.g. boundaries, adverse possession)

  • Leasehold and service charge disputes

You’ll have regular advocacy opportunities, particularly at directions and case management hearings in the County Courts and Property Tribunals.

This is a client-facing role, with responsibility for delivering training sessions, providing practical legal advice, and nurturing client relationships. You\’ll also support the growth and development of junior colleagues through supervision and mentoring.

Requirements

We want someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has:

  • 5+ years’ experience in litigation (housing experience desirable but not essential)

  • Strong advocacy skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach

  • Excellent communication and client care abilities

  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to support junior team members

  • A commitment to being office-based in Exeter a minimum of 2 days a week, with flexibility around hybrid working

Benefits

We’re not just a law firm — we’re a people-first business. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality work, growing healthily, and supporting happy teams. As part of the Housing Management team, you’ll benefit from:

  • A clear career path with support for progression

  • Regular training, CPD, and leadership development opportunities

  • A strong emphasis on wellbeing and work/life balance

  • A comprehensive benefits package including:

    • Generous holiday (25+ days + bank holidays + birthday off)

    • Enhanced maternity/paternity pay

    • Medicash health plan & mental health first aiders

    • Firm-wide bonus scheme

    • Holiday trading and volunteer days

    • Travel loan scheme and pension contributions

    • Supportive hybrid and flexible working policies

We’re also proud signatories to the Living Wage Foundation, Mindful Employer, and Wellbeing for Women.
