The hiring firm are seeking an Associate level Costs Draftsperson to join their dynamic team and contribute to their continued success.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and drafting legal costs, ensuring accuracy, and providing valuable support in costs dispute resolution. The successful candidate will leverage their commercial costs experience and strong Excel skills to contribute to the firm's reputation for excellence.

Requirements

  • Costs Drafting:
    • Prepare bills of costs and schedules of costs in a precise and efficient manner.
    • Analyse and interpret fee structures and agreements to reflect costs accurately.
  • Costs Negotiation:
    • Engage in negotiations with opposing parties to settle costs disputes.
    • Provide support to senior team members during negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Legal Research:
    • Stay informed about changes in costs regulations and legal precedents.
    • Conduct research to support cost assessments and provide relevant insights.
  • Excel Skills:
    • Utilise advanced Excel skills to organize and manipulate financial data.
    • Create spreadsheets and financial models to assist in cost calculations and analysis.
  • Client Interaction:
    • Interact with clients to understand their specific cost requirements and provide clear and concise explanations.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to address client concerns and ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Costs lawyer in independent costs practices.
  • Commercial costs experience highly desirable.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for complex financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of costs regulations and legal frameworks.
