Freelance Swimwear Pattern Cutter London — The London Pattern Cutter offers a swimwear and bikini pattern cutting service to small and medium sized brands. Our services go beyond pattern cutting, especially for new startup brands.

Responsibilities

  • Provide swimwear pattern cutting services with a deep understanding of stretch fabrics, garment construction and ergonomics.
  • Develop patterns for swimwear that account for negative ease and varying degrees of fabric stretch (two-way and four-way stretch).
  • Create pattern blocks for different styles and fabrics, ensuring fit across base sizes (e.g., commonly used sizes like 8 or 10) and potential variations for larger sizes.
  • Advise on design and construction considerations, including soft edges, suppression, and seam placement (side seams, centre back seam).
  • Work with flat pattern cutting when appropriate, including toile development on a mannequin or model to refine fit.
  • Assist with development for startup brands, including design, grading, tech packs, sampling, and small production runs as part of a complete service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in pattern cutting for swimwear, beachwear, and lingerie with knowledge of stretch fabric behavior and ergonomics.
