Department Leads are responsible for overseeing functions in the assigned department, which include delegating work, training on selling skills and product knowledge, implementing strategies to increase productivity, and demonstrating and sustaining the quality of Theisen’s Brand customer service. They promote a comfortable work environment by motivating associates through positive communication and accolades.
Qualifications
- Must be a full-time Theisen’s associate with a desire to grow and promote within the company.
- 6-12 months retail experience preferred.
- Satisfactory completion of NHPA test within three months of starting.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers storewide.
- Explain benefits and features of merchandise to customers and suggest add-on merchandise.
- Maintain general knowledge of all products and expertise in specific product areas.
- Compute price quotes, order merchandise, and follow up on customer special orders.
- Answer telephone and customer questions within established guidelines.
- Practice and maintain security measures.
- Communicate out-of-stocks using x-mail requests and communication with buying staff.
- Use radios to request additional help.
- Assist customers with checkout and carryouts.
- Maintain accuracy of shelf tagging and set up merchandise displays.
- Receive merchandise shipments and check them against receiving reports.
- Restock shelves and displays and assemble products as needed.
- Perform cleaning duties including facing merchandise, dusting, sweeping, and emptying trash.
- Help management implement business strategies to increase sales.
- Mentor and train associates to provide brand quality customer service.
- Assist with difficult questions or complaints from customers.
- Perform opening/closing functions when needed, which may include bookkeeping duties.
- Other tasks as requested by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
- Ability to perform basic accounting and problem-solving.
- Exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.
- Familiarity with forklift and pallet jack operations is preferred.
- Ability to assign and evaluate work, coach/counsel, and train.
- Possess a positive attitude and good listening skills.
Physical Demands
Frequent physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, bending, reaching, and light grasping. Occasional physical demands include lifting over 50 lbs., climbing stairs, and squatting. Associates must be able to work required shifts including nights and weekends.
Work Environment and Working Conditions
Work will normally be performed inside the store facility; however, some work may occasionally be performed outside in varying conditions. The work environment is usually fast-paced with regular deadlines and sales expectations. Associates may be subjected to hazards such as burns, cuts, and mechanical risks.
