The Communications Directorate delivers professional communications on behalf of HMRC and is recognised as running one of the largest and busiest communications teams in government.

We deliver through a host of functions including;

Job description

Our Communications Directorate has a vital role to enhance the reputation of HMRC among key audiences and set the direction and tone of communications in the department. Working collaboratively with HMRC business areas, the team supports delivery of business objectives through effective engagement.

With a big job to do you’ll be joining a strong, motivated communications team.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in brand and/or culture change who will support our Head of Brand to develop and implement our brand both internally and externally, ensuring it is embedded in our behaviours as well as our communications.

Person specification

As a Senior Brand Manager, you will play a role in the way we operate across the whole business area. You will do this by:

Being a key part of keeping HMRC at the forefront of brand and meet high standards for communications across HMRC.

Leading key activities/projects to drive forward the implementation of HMRC’s brand strategy both internally and externally.

Accurately planning, coordinate, and deliver projects aligned with HMRC’s business objectives.

Developing a keen understanding of major HMRC programmes and the role of communications in delivering them.

Being an adviser on brand and reputation management to HMRC’s senior leaders and wider communications function.

Regularly interacting and working with various managers and senior stakeholders throughout HMRC Comms.

Essential Criteria:

You are required to demonstrate experience of the following within your application:

  • Excellent understanding of – and passion for – brand and /or organisational culture change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communicating with transparency, integrity and passion and influencing stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with within and across teams, departments and organisations to reach a common goal.
  • Excellent presentation, written and drafting skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Strong skills in campaigns
  • Internal/External comms experience
