Your impact:

As a Senior Engineer in our Electrical & Lighting Design Team, you will be at the forefront of delivering innovative infrastructure solutions across the UK and internationally. Based in one of our key offices—Birmingham, London, Manchester, or Leeds—you will benefit from flexible working while contributing to high-profile projects in aviation, rail, highways, and local authority networks.

You will lead the technical delivery of electrical and lighting designs from early feasibility through to detailed design and construction support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as technical lead on multidisciplinary projects, ensuring quality and compliance with UK standards
  • Preparing lighting and electrical designs for feasibility studies, optioneering, planning applications, and detailed design packages
  • Conducting daytime and night-time site surveys to inform design decisions
  • Producing technical reports, specifications, and contract documentation
  • Supporting Environmental Impact Assessments, Economic Assessments, and Business Case development
  • Managing programme timelines and monitoring costs to ensure efficient delivery
  • Collaborating with clients, electricity suppliers, contractors, sub-consultants, and internal teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Contributing to the development of sustainable infrastructure, including EV charging, airport ground lighting (AGL), rail platforms, and street lighting systems

This is a chance to make a tangible impact on the future of transportation infrastructure while growing your technical leadership and client-facing skills.

What you’ll need:

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a combination of technical expertise, communication skills, and collaborative spirit. Specifically, we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience designing to British electrical and lighting standards, including BS5489, BSEN 13201, and BS7671
  • Familiarity with lighting and electrical requirements for trunk roads, local roads, and transport hubs
  • Proficiency in lighting design and electrical calculation software (e.g. Lighting Reality, DIALux, Amtech)
  • Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and build trust with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and managing interfaces with other design teams
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
