TM Lighting is the leading art lighting manufacturer producing a range of award-winning products for the international art market. We produce exceptional LED products that transform works of art within private residences, stately homes, galleries and institutions, and commissions for high-end retail spaces in the UK and internationally. All are designed and made in our central London gallery near Kings Cross.

This year, its founders, Harry Triggs and Andrew Molyneux are taking their expertise and British-made designs into the US market. Two exceptional individuals will join our small, creative and dynamic team as we enter this exciting phase of growth; a Junior Design Engineer and a Specification Salesperson.

Junior Design Engineer

Salary negotiable, dependent on experience. As a junior/mid-level Product Designer you will have strong engineering and lighting knowledge and 1-5 years of relevant experience. You will form an ongoing and integral part of our design team at our London HQ.

Key responsibilities:
  • Work with the design, sales, marketing teams to aid the delivery of new product designs.
  • Undertake design work as allocated by the Design Director.
  • Update drawings and design documentation.
  • Take ownership of queries and follow through to completion.
  • Provide cover for other members of the design department as necessary and perform other tasks if requested from time to time by the Design Manager.
  • Clear and concise interaction with all company departments; notably the design, marketing and sales departments.
  • Work with the procurement team and manufacturers on product design component issues.
  • Liaise with the sales team to communicate any issues arising with orders.
Skills and experience:
  • Engineering focus role.
  • Good experience in engineering/product design with good knowledge of fabrication processes.
  • Thorough experience of tolerances and specialist finishing.
  • Understanding of electronics, LED, drivers and dimming.
  • Broad knowledge of modelling software including Solidworks, AutoCAD.
  • Experience in product rendering advantageous.
  • Ability to read and amend lighting layouts advantageous.
  • In-design/Photoshop/Illustrator.
  • BEng or BSc required.

Specification Sales

Salary negotiable, dependent on experience. Primarily, you will meet with specifiers to perform the proactive sales function in the business. With a minimum of 5 years’ sales experience within the lighting industry, you will have good connections with Lighting Designers, Interior Designers and Architects.

This role will predominantly be out of the office meeting clients, with touch points in the office as necessary. This role would be best suited to a confident, outward-going person, with strong organisational skills.

Key responsibilities:
  • Meet and exceed sales targets.
  • The principle aspect of the role is to build long-term relationships with Lighting Designers, Interior Designers and Architects.
  • Introduce our range of Art Lighting Products and seek specification sales opportunities.
  • Ensure the pipeline is well fed.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest product development within the business and technology within the industry.
  • Be well informed on best practice and industry regulations.
  • Assist with technical queries as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with the rest of the team about opportunities and ensure effective transfer of information to production.
  • Build quotations.
  • Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner at all times; adhering to our company values.
Skills and experience:
  • Experience working within lighting, or associated industry such as interiors.
  • Experience of working in a high-end/luxury client-facing role, understanding of clients’ requirements (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills.
