About Regulatory & Compliance and the Role
The Regulatory and Compliance team's primary focus is to ensure product formulation, labelling and website compliance for all THG Nutrition and Beauty brands globally.
THG owns and operates many leading brands including Look Fantastic. com, Grow Gorgeous, Mio Skincare, ESPA and My Protein.
THG is looking to recruit a Senior Regulatory Officer (UK / EU) with a good understanding of UK / EU Regulations pertaining to labelling of food and food supplements for UK/EU Countries, to join our Regulatory & Compliance Team.
The role is reporting into the EU Regulatory Manager.
With a focus on brand protection, the Regulatory & Compliance Team plays a critical role in ensuring that our products can be marketed and sold legally all over the world.
The role offers hybrid working from our Head Office near Manchester Airport, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the Global success of The Hut Group and our market-leading brands.
Responsibilities
- Managing one Regulatory Associate, including setting objectives and cascading departmental objectives to direct reports.
- Supporting from a regulatory position on key business projects.
- Upkeep and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of applicable regulations and guidance.
- Proactively identifying potential Regulatory / compliance issues and working together with the senior members of the team to reduce and/or eradicate their impact.
- Oversee and input on regulatory requirements for New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) for THG Nutrition Brands including Myprotein, Myvegan, and Myvitamins.
- Working closely with NPD on new formulations to ensure compliance in the UK and EU Member States.
- Reviewing labelling, marketing material (including campaigns/scripts/clearcast/assets) to check that they are compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Advising on nutrition and health claims, ensuring they are correctly worded on product labelling and websites.
- Reviewing company websites to check that content is compliant with country specific regulatory requirements.
- Completing food supplement product registration in in the UK and EU Member States.
- Assessing regulatory risk against commercial requirements and completing risk assessments as and when necessary.
- Participating in Trade Association meetings, review communications, gather relevant data to help lobby for change as and when relevant.
- Horizon scanning - Using own initiative to define upcoming regulatory challenges in the UK / EU market based on changes in regulations and/or market trends.
- Supporting on internal and external auditing including BRC and ISO (training provided).
- Regularly review policies to ensure they are up to date.
- Create training materials & provide training/upskilling for team members, wider teams and stakeholders as required.
- Establishing and maintaining a strong working relationship with key stakeholders (NPD, Marketing, Brand, Commercial teams etc).
- Supporting on routine nutrition analyses.
Requirements
- Qualification in Nutrition, Food Technology, Food Law, Food Science, Food Safety or other related subject.
- Great understanding of regulations regarding food and food supplements and usage of claims in the UK/EU.
- Great understanding of food industry standard practices.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and good time management.
Ability to communicate across different departments e. g.
NPD, Brand, Marketing, SQA, QA, Packaging Artwork etc to ensure business needs are met.
