Job Introduction
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, hard-wor king, pr actical and flexib le Site Manager to joi n our team. This an exciting opportunity to join The Hamble School. Our vision ‘We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together’ encapsulates the work we do every day. Our intake numbers are increasing – we currently have 1,090 students. In March 2025 we were graded as ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted and we are continuing to ensure that we provide the very best education for all our students.
The Site Team consists of a dedicated team of staff ranging in experience and specialisms. We have a good team spirit and work well together. We take pride in the presentation and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
As part of the Site team you can expect every day to be varied and busy as you support our staff and pupils by providing a safe, secure and well-maintained school environment. Team work is an essential skill in this role. You will oversee the work of our two Site Assistants, taking responsibility for organising their daily duties whilst independently completing your own workload.
Daily duties could include unlocking/locking up the school, key holding and emergency response, ensuring rooms are set up for school events, day to day maintenance, ad hoc cleaning, grounds works, health and safety checks (full training given), and record keeping.
Specific trade strengths in any area would be an advantage but not essential. Lifting, moving and handling of furniture and deliveries also form an important part of the job. Full health and safety training will be provided.
In return, we can offer you:
- a positive and optimistic working environment focused on staff well-being, student welfare, progress and high standards of achievement and behaviour;
- personal career development to assist you in the fulfilment of your ambitions;
- a well-equipped campus with excellent gym and swimming facilities run by Everyone Active which staff can take advantage of for free. Access to leisure and sports classes at heavily discounted membership rates and preferential rates for family members;
- the opportunity to apply for discounted childcare placements with Hamble Early Years Centre which is based directly next to the school;
- free on-site parking and good local public transport links to the school (bus/ rail).
We welcome visits to the school to see us in action and invite you to come and have an informal chat and meet the Senior Site Manager.
To arrange a visit or to find out more about this vacancy, please contact Jenni Fradgley, HR Officer, at hr@thehambleschool.co.uk. If you currently work in a school, please ensure your first reference is from your current Headteacher.
Safer Recruitment
The Hamble School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to DBS checks along with other relevant employment checks.
