The Governors of Sharps Copse Primary School are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, self-motivated and dedicated Learning Support/Special Needs Assistants. We have several positions available, working with children of different ages and with varying needs, and are looking for candidates with a positive, caring and committed approach to children and their education.
This role will be focused around 1:1 support in the first instance, working in a team around the child. At Sharps Copse we strive to provide our children with the very best education, and you will be joining our friendly team of highly motivated and dedicated staff where excellent numeracy, literacy and initiative skills are essential as well as a commitment to making learning both meaningful and fun.

We are seeking to appoint happy, flexible and organised people with a sense of humour to work in classrooms with highly professional and exceptional practitioners.
Applicants should ideally have/be:
- a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- good numeracy, literacy and communication skills and relevant qualifications ie, GCSE’s in maths and English;
- an understanding, or desire to learn about, more complex needs and neurodiversity
- a working knowledge of the expectations of KS1 and KS2 children
- professionally discreet and able to respect confidentiality on particular issues;
- excellent interpersonal and initiative skills;
- a sense of humour enabling effective relationships with a variety of people and be a team worker.
Experience and qualifications, whilst desirable are not essential as support will be provided for the right candidates. Salary scales will be dependent on qualifications and experience, but will be within Hampshire County Councils pay framework; Scale B, Special Needs Assistant/Learning Support Assistant – Role profile reference 02130. FTE £24,796-£25,128 (approx. £12.85 per hour)
There are several posts available and are term time, from 8.30am to 3.15pm, Monday to Friday with 45 mins for lunch and are on a fixed term contract. For the right person/candidate a job share could be considered and the days and times be flexible/part time.
