Under new leadership and embarking on an exciting journey of transformation, Sherborne St John C of E Primary is looking for a dedicated and inspiring 1-1 Learning Support Partner to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a pupil who is autistic and has a Global Development Delay (GDD). Your primary goal will be to create a safe, engaging, and structured environment that allows this child to access the curriculum at their own pace, develop their communication skills, and build confidence in their first year of primary school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement bespoke learning activities that cater to the child’s specific developmental stage and sensory needs.
  • Utilise strategies such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Now-and-Next boards, or Makaton to support speech and language goals.
  • Model positive social interactions and help the pupil navigate the busy environment of a mainstream Reception classroom.
  • Work alongside the Class Teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals (e.g., Speech and Language Therapists) to follow and update the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Provide assistance with personal care and transitions throughout the school day as required.
