We are seeking to appoint a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team. Grange Infant School is committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing and outstanding learning environment for all children.
We are looking for someone to support children whose needs reflect one or more of the main SEND categories:
- Cognition and learning
- Communication and interaction
- Social and emotional need
- Sensory and physical disabilities
The position will involve supporting teaching and learning in classes, groups and individual pupils, as well as assisting with our lunchtime service.
The successful candidate will:
- be able to nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils
- have previous experience of working with children with SEND and/or social communication difficulties
- have good maths and English skills (GCSE grade C or above or equivalent)
- have a working knowledge of the curriculum and the ability to break down learning into small steps
- be able to provide modelling and scaffolding to support the child's engagement
- be able to implement clear boundaries and routines using positive behaviour management strategies
- have a calm and positive disposition
- work as part of a year team under the guidance of the year leader and class teacher to raise attainment and deliver tailored interventions
- be able to work independently and have good organisational skills
- be professionally discreet, understand confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
- have a ‘can do’ attitude with bags of energy – happy to do ‘whatever it takes’ to support our pupils
- be able to deal with minor first aid needs (training available)
