Job Description:

Responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team and may involve support across allocated year groups. Key duties include:

  • Work to improve the behaviour, attendance and outcomes of designated students.
  • Provide pastoral support for students in the allocated year group.
  • Maintain communication with staff, parents/carers, and outside agencies to ensure high standards of progress and behaviour.
  • Track progress, welfare, and attendance for students in alternative curriculum and set intervention plans.
  • Coordinate progress reviews and annual reports to parents.
  • Complete pastoral and restorative work following behaviour incidents.
  • Co‑ordinate with the safeguarding team, attend meetings with parents, and manage attendance monitoring and intervention plans.
  • Investigate incidents of negative behaviour, collect evidence, and liaise with senior leaders.
  • Attend re‑integration meetings after suspensions or exclusions.
  • Support the implementation of programmes from external professionals (e.g., educational psychologists, speech and language therapists).
  • Maintain compliance with child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection policies.
  • Contribute to the school ethos and attend personal and professional development activities.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to school trips and activities for the year group.
  • Carry out reasonable adjustments and other duties as reasonably requested.

Working Time: Up to 37 hours per week during term time plus 5 days of training (39 weeks). D Grade.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 4 GCSEs (English & Maths) or equivalent, Grade A‑C or above.
  • Degree level education or substantial relevant experience demonstrating high literacy, numeracy, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of SEND schools and behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience with student databases and report manipulation.
  • Experience working with children/young people, preferably in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding statutory requirements, safety, equality, and data protection.

  • Professional appearance and resilience with a good attendance record.
  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal, listening.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work calmly under pressure.
  • Good judgement with sensitive information and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with partners and colleagues.
