Are you ready to make a lasting difference in the earliest stages of a child’s learning journey? We are seeking a passionate, creative and dedicated Early Years / Nursery Teacher to join our fantastic team at Norman Gate School. Norman Gate is a supportive and inclusive SEND primary and nursery provision where no two days are the same and every small step is celebrated.
Our Early Years provision focuses on giving children the very best start, building strong foundations for communication, independence and early learning through a nurturing, play-based approach. We support children with a wide range of additional needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, communication and language needs, autism and ADHD.
Working in small classes (up to 12 pupils) alongside a skilled and supportive team, you will play a key role in creating a safe, engaging and stimulating environment where children can explore, develop confidence, and thrive at their own pace. Our core values – Teamwork, Positivity, Respect, Independence, Curiosity and Courage – underpin everything we do.
We are looking for an inspirational practitioner who not only shares these values, but brings warmth, creativity and enthusiasm to early learning every day. We are looking for someone who can:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality early years practice rooted in play and exploration
- Establish and embed consistent routines and clear, supportive boundaries that help children feel safe, secure and ready to learn
- Create a nurturing environment that supports communication and social development
- Adapt learning experiences to meet the individual needs and developmental stages of children with SEND
- Build strong, trusting relationships with young children, families, colleagues and external professionals
- Inspire curiosity and independence through creative, child-centred learning opportunities
- Demonstrate patience, resilience and a reflective approach to continuously improving practice
We are looking for someone to join our team in September. In return, we offer:
- A welcoming, well-resourced nursery environment with a strong sense of belonging
- Supportive, experienced colleagues who work closely as a team
- A strong commitment to your professional development and wellbeing
- A highly rewarding role where you will make a meaningful difference every day
- PPA time that can be taken at home (typically allocated as a whole day, fortnightly)
We would love to hear from teachers with experience in Early Years and/or special education, but we also warmly welcome applications from practitioners who are passionate about early development and eager to work within a SEND setting. Full-time or part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
If you’re ready to help our youngest learners grow in confidence, communication and independence, and want to be part of something truly special, we would be delighted to receive your application.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
