Fitness Manager (Flex contracts available)
Reporting to: General Manager
Based: Barrow-in-Furness
About the Role
As a Fitness Manager with The Gym Group you will support the General Manager in the successful running of the gym and will deputise in their absence. You will be passionate about fitness and keen to embrace members, teams and embed the culture.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for member engagement by leading in-gym service offering to drive member satisfaction scores.
- Line management and leadership of the team of fitness trainers, engaging and motivating them to perform.
- Take ownership of the Group Exercise offering by developing the class timetable and upskilling the team to deliver.
- Drive commercial performance of the gym with a result‑driven mindset.
- Ensure high operational standards on site through effective management of cleaning and maintenance procedures; liaise with 3rd‑party suppliers.
- Maintain compliance with health & safety policies and complete daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
- Support the GM with onsite admin tasks including rota, time‑tracking, and security checks.
- Act as keyholder for the gym in support of the GM, being a point of call‑in during emergencies.
- Provide personal training in the gym within your employed hours, managing your own time and retained earnings.
Qualifications
- Passion for health, fitness, well‑being, and excellence.
- Strong leadership skills, leading by example and setting staff standards.
- Commitment to understanding members’ expectations.
- Ability to work within compliance parameters while delivering high service levels in daily gym operations.
- Proven track record of success and a winning attitude.
- Level 2 qualified Fitness Instructor or currently studying for the qualification.
