We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Maintenance Technician to join the team supporting Coventry University's campus in Dagenham with occasional travel to other sites. This is a varied, practical role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple trades. You'll be responsible for maintaining buildings and facilities to a high standard, ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-presented environment for students, staff, and visitors. Holding sole regional responsibility for maintenance delivery, statutory compliance tasks, plumbing systems, and day-to-day facilities management across designated sites, the Maintenance Technician operates with a high degree of autonomy. The role demands strong technical expertise, sound professional judgement, and effective workload prioritisation to ensure all estates remain safe and compliant with relevant legislation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance across the campus
- Completing general building repairs (doors, walls, flooring, ceilings, fixtures)
- Undertaking basic plumbing work and fault fixing
- Supporting electrical or mechanical maintenance
- Assisting with room setups, moves, and minor refurbishments
- Conducting routine checks (e.g. water temperatures, alarm testing)
- Ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety regulations
- Working alongside contractors and supporting project delivery
- Responding to emergency maintenance issues when required
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a multi-trade or general maintenance role
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing, Electrical, or Building Services
- A hands-on, can-do attitude with strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in plumbing, electrical, or general building maintenance
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
Additional Information
Hours: 07:00 - 15:30 (with some flexibility)
Location: Dagenham with occasional travel to other campuses in London
