thefutureworks are currently recruiting for an Electrical Technician / Senior Electrical Technician to join an established Estates Delivery Team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to join a busy and varied environment, working across a range of buildings and sites and supporting the safe, reliable and compliant operation of electrical systems and infrastructure. There is the potential opportunity to apply for a permanent position following the temporary assignment. Please note that any permanent appointment will be subject to a separate application and interview process and is not guaranteed. The successful candidate may be considered at either Electrical Technician or Senior Electrical Technician, depending on qualifications, experience and technical competence.

The Role

  • Deliver a broad range of electrical maintenance, installation, inspection and testing activities, including:
    • Carrying out reactive electrical maintenance and fault finding.
    • Undertaking planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
    • Installing, altering and extending electrical systems, including power, lighting, containment and emergency lighting.
    • Supporting refurbishment, upgrades and major electrical projects.
    • Carrying out inspection, testing and certification in accordance with BS 7671.
    • Undertaking or supporting EICRs and associated remedial works.
    • Maintaining accurate maintenance, testing and compliance records.
    • Working alongside contractors and other trades to ensure works are completed safely and to the required standard.
    • Supporting the Electrical Services Manager with quality assurance and compliance.
    • Mentoring apprentices, new starters and junior colleagues.

At Senior Electrical Technician level, you will take a greater technical lead within the team, including quality checking electrical works, providing technical guidance and supporting the Electrical Services Manager with inspection, testing and quality assurance.

About You

  • You will ideally have:
    • City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
    • Knowledge of BS 7671 / 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and current amendments.
    • Significant commercial or industrial electrical experience.
    • Experience of electrical fault finding, installation and testing on single and three-phase systems.
    • The ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
    • A good understanding of electrical health, safety and compliance requirements.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Basic IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate work and compliance records.
    • A willingness to participate in an evening/weekend emergency call-out rota.
    • A driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Desirable: City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing, together with experience of EICRs, fire alarms, security/CCTV, smart lighting or BMS systems.
