We are currently supporting a major Distribution Network Operator (DNO) in the UK in the search for an experienced Contracts Manager to join their commercial team. This is a senior-level opportunity to work on large-scale, high-value infrastructure projects with contract values ranging from £50M to £500M, offering long-term stability and strong career progression.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will play a key role in both pre-contract and post-contract commercial management, supporting the successful delivery of complex energy and EV infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the P&C Manager / Senior Contracts Manager in negotiating contract terms and conditions for high-value projects.
  • Lead and support contract price negotiations, ensuring commercial robustness and value for money.
  • Manage commercial aspects during the delivery phase, including change control, compensation events, and cost forecasting.
  • Produce and manage cost reports, forecasts, and expenditure tracking.
  • Ensure strict adherence to change management procedures and commercial governance.
  • Draft, interpret, and manage commercial contracts, including NEC contracts and bespoke arrangements.
  • Engage with and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders, resolving issues and disputes proactively.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Ideally chartered or working towards professional membership (e.g. RICS, CICES, or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in:
  • Contract administration
  • Cost and budget management
  • Commercial forecasting and reporting
  • Estimating and procurement
  • Proven experience working with NEC contracts and standard form construction contracts.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to operate confidently in complex, high-value project environments.
