The Sissinghurst Scholarship is a relatively new programme offering gardeners the special opportunity to work alongside our Head Gardener Troy Scott-Smith and his team whilst developing practical hands-on experience. The Scholarship is designed to cultivate the Head Gardeners of the future and has been generously funded by donations and legacies.

The candidate will be working within the Nursery and Organic Vegetable garden on a fixed 12 month contract, working hands-on, learning to a set training programme under the supervision of our expert horticulturalists.

The programme covers:

  • Learning vegetable, herb and ornamental propagation
  • Cultivation following no-dig principles
  • Vegetable and fruit harvest
  • Supply of ‘Sissinghurst Collection’ plants to the plant shop as well as the main garden
  • Glass house management
  • Watering and irrigation
  • Sissinghurst’s notable garden collection plants, their protection, propagation and care

Interviews will be held on the 14th December. Fixed Term full-time (37.5 hrs pw to 31/01/25). Do hurry if interested as applications close on the 6th of December.
