Glasshouse manufacturer, Alitex are looking to recruit a trainee Sales Representative to join the sales team. Alitex Ltd, established in 1952, is a thriving family business specialising in designing and manufacturing aluminium glasshouses. The company is passionate about delivering the best customer experience whilst developing their team in the process. You will be part of their successful Sales Team, playing a key role in engaging with customers and supporting the field sales representatives.
The role
As the Trainee Sales Representative you will spend time working around the business in the first few months to gain insight into Alitex operations, products and services, with a view to progress to an ‘Office-based Sales’ role. In time, dependent on your development and business needs, there is the potential for you to progress further into a ‘Field Sales’ role. The candidate will receive full training and mentoring from the experienced team to help you grow into the role. The key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Field Sales team with quotations, proposals and customer communications.
- Support the Customer Relationship Manager with the preparation of initial quotes and proposals using the company’s bespoke product configurator.
- As the office-based Sales rep, you will be show potential customers and visitors around the show site. You will be willing and enthusiastic to show them the glasshouses and engage them on the start of their greenhouse journey.
- Advise clients on design solutions, positioning, and materials (training provided).
- Maintain accurate records of enquiries and projects using the Alitex CRM system (NetSuite).
- Contribute to a fast-paced, customer-focused sales environment.
- Event support – attendance at shows across the UK e.g. Chelsea Flower Show.
Office hours are 8am to 5pm (for 40hrs/week Monday – Friday), but the nature of the role will require work outside of these hours and at weekends, at times. Laptop and phone will be provided.
The candidate
Experience in a customer-facing role, such as sales, retail, hospitality, or a similar position, is desirable but not essential. You will be organised, proactive, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and track projects effectively. You should also demonstrate commercial acumen, with a drive to achieve results. An interest in garden design, horticulture, landscaping, or bespoke building would be beneficial. Above all, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a confident communicator are essential qualities. You should also take pride in your work. Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK and have a full driving license. Occasional visits to sites across the UK will be required.
