BHA is a leading health and social care charity that works to challenge health inequalities and support individuals, families and communities to improve their health and well-being. BHA is seeking a passionate and motivated Community Engagement & Development Worker to support our Improving Black Health Outcomes (IBHO) work across Greater Manchester. You will be joining a friendly, creative and dedicated team committed to increasing the participation of Black African and Caribbean communities in health research and amplifying community voice through Manchester's African and Caribbean Sounding Board. This role focuses on community engagement, recruitment to the IBHOBioResource and support for the African and Caribbean Sounding Board.
Responsibilities:
- Lead assertive, culturally competent outreach to Black African and Caribbean communities across Greater Manchester.
- Support the recruitment of community members to the IBHOBioResource, contributing to research on health conditions affecting Black communities in the UK.
- Organise and facilitate meetings of the African and Caribbean Sounding Board, including agendas, speakers and follow-up.
- Contribute to project communication plans and the design of promotional materials, including digital and social media content.
- Build strong relationships with residents, community organisations and partners, and feed community insight into the CHEM Steering Group.
Hours: 28 hours per week, worked flexibly, including occasional evening and weekend work (for which time off in lieu will be given)
Salary: NJC SCP 18, Β£31,537 per annum pro rata (actual salary Β£25,229.60 for 28 hours)
Location: Manchester β delivery across Greater Manchester
Contract type: Fixed term β 18 months (job share will be considered)
