Our client, a leading international financial services organisation, is undertaking a large-scale migration from Windows 10 to Windows 11 later this year and is seeking to engage two experienced Windows 11 Migration Engineers on a contract basis to support the rollout. The successful candidates will work closely alongside internal Technology and Business‑as‑Usual (BAU) support teams to ensure the migration is delivered smoothly, securely, and with minimal disruption to business operations. This engagement will provide additional specialist resource to support the successful execution of the organisation's desktop transformation programme within a highly regulated financial environment.

The engineers will play a key role in supporting end users throughout the migration lifecycle, including troubleshooting and resolving migration‑related issues, assisting users in adapting to the new operating system, validating successful migrations, and ensuring appropriate sign‑off is obtained. In addition, they will be responsible for accurately logging, managing, and reporting migration issues, and providing clear management information to support project governance and reporting.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising during or after the Windows 11 migration process.
  • Guide end users through changes in the Windows 11 interface, layout, and workflow.
  • Provide hands‑on familiarisation support for users adjusting to the new OS experience.
  • Work directly with end users to obtain post‑migration acceptance sign‑off.
  • Maintain a strong customer‑service approach and represent the migration team professionally.
  • Log all migration incidents, exceptions, and feedback into the organisation's tracking systems.
  • Collate, manage, and present MI (Management Information) related to migration issues and resolutions.
  • Collaborate closely with BAU IT teams to ensure the ongoing service is not disrupted during the rollout.
  • Work in alignment with the client's internal Infrastructure Operations team, following established processes and compliance frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience supporting Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration projects.
  • Strong background working in a regulated financial environment (banking, trading, investment operations, etc.).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and resolving migration‑related technical issues.
  • Ability to support end users through transition activities, including familiarisation with the new Windows 11 look and feel.
  • Hands‑on experience with Active Directory, including password resets, account updates, and access group management.
  • Confident with Microsoft 365 administration and basic mailbox/user configuration.
  • Strong understanding of device configuration, OS builds, profile migration, and application validation.
  • Ability to log, triage, and elevate issues effectively with clear documentation.
  • Able to take accountability and ownership of a project or additional work that may be required.
