The Senior Marketing Officer is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating a portfolio of marketing campaigns for Theatre Royal Plymouth’s diverse programme of productions and events. Working under the direction of the Marketing Manager (Stages & Revenue), the role ensures campaigns are delivered on time, within budget and achieve agreed sales, audience development and engagement objectives. The postholder will build and maintain strong relationships with visiting producers, external partners and colleagues across the organisation, ensuring Theatre Royal Plymouth’s programme is promoted creatively and effectively, reaching existing audiences while inspiring new ones to experience everything the theatre has to offer.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead on the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a portfolio of marketing campaigns fortouringproductions, ensuring activity is delivered on time, on budget, and achieves agreed sales and audience development targets.
- Use reporting and statistical information (Tessitura, Purple Seven, Prospect2, Google Analytics, social metrics) to track campaign performance, identify risks early, and recommend corrective action.
- Bring creativity and innovation to campaign planning and delivery, ensuring productions at TRP are promoted in ways that are engaging, distinctive, and brand-aligned.
- Be directly responsible for the delivery, evaluation, and evolution of allocated campaign activity, ensuring alignment with TRP’s brand and audience objectives.
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing Support Officer and Senior Marketing & Content Officer to ensure email, content scheduling, and digital channel activity are effectively integrated into show campaigns.
- Maintain strong relationships with producers, marketing agencies, and suppliers to deliver campaigns that meet expectations.
- Contribute to TRP’s audience development goals by embedding segmentation and research insights into campaign planning.
- Support wider marketing initiatives and organisational projects as required.
Principal Tasks
- Plan and deliver integrated campaigns (digital, print, media, on-site), managing campaign budgets and timelines.
- Act as day-to-day contact for visiting producers and agencies on allocated campaigns, escalating issues to the Marketing Manager where required.
- Liaise with media buyers to plan and implement campaign activity.
- Write copy and brief design/creative assets for campaigns, working with the Design Manager.
- Ensure show campaigns are accurately represented across TRP’s website, digital platforms, and venue signage.
- Oversee creation of solus show campaign emails asrequired, aligning with audience development strategies and data segmentation.
- Work with the Marketing Support Officer on the scheduling and delivery ofmulti-showcampaign emails, ensuring messaging isaccurateand aligned.
- Work with theSeniorMarketing & Content Officer to ensure campaign content is delivered across social media and digital channels.
- Monitor ROI forallocatedcampaigns and prepare reports/insights for the Marketing Manager.Manage relationships with producers and partners forallocatedcampaigns, ensuring expectations are met and opportunities maximised.
- Contribute to audience development initiatives (e.g. schools, groups, multibuy) by integrating targeted messaging into campaigns.
- Maintain andmonitorprint and display forallocatedshows (e.g. posters, banners, external display), ensuringtimelydelivery and consistency with campaign messaging.
- Ensureaccuratebudget administration and supplier invoicing forallocatedcampaigns.
- Represent TRP at press nights, previews, and other events relevant toallocatedcampaigns (including out of hours asrequired).
- Participate in TRP’s social media out-of-hours community managementrota.
Work alongside Marketing colleagues on cross-departmental projects whereappropriate.
Accountability
- Delivery of effective, sales-driven marketing campaigns for allocated productions.
- Achievement of agreed campaign KPIs (sales, reach, engagement).

- Strong relationships with producers, visiting companies, and media suppliers.
