Plymouth Full-Time No working from home possible
T

Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is the largest and best-attended regional producing theatre in the UK and the leading promoter of theatre in the South West. We offer a varied programme of entertainment throughout the year, including musical, plays, opera, ballet, contemporary dance and new writing.

We are looking for Ushers to join our Visitor Experience team. Visitor Experience is a busy, customer-facing department responsible for providing a warm welcome and a high standard of service to everyone visiting TRP on Royal Parade. The team also supports events at TR2, our Production and Learning Centre in Cattedown.

As an Usher, you will welcome visitors, check and scan tickets, help people find their seats and provide information about our productions, facilities and services. You will play an important part in ensuring the comfort and safety of our visitors and will often be their first point of contact if they have a question or need assistance.

Flexibility and availability

Successful candidates will need to offer flexibility across a range of shifts from Monday to Sunday. Rotas are determined by TRP’s programme of shows and include both matinee and evening performances.

Our busiest period is generally Thursday to Saturday, so it is essential that you are regularly available to work during these days, including daytime and evening performances. You will need to provide availability for a minimum of two performances per week and at least two weekends each month.

Greater flexibility will be required during particularly busy periods, especially over the festive season. Shifts are offered according to our performance schedule and the availability provided, so your availability will directly influence the number of hours you are offered each week.

The deadline for applications is 9.00am on Thursday 1 October 2026, with interviews expected to take place during the week commencing 19 October 2026 at Theatre Royal Plymouth.

Successful candidates must be available to attend mandatory training on Tuesday 10 & Friday 13 November, 18:00 - 21:00.

We’re here to talk! We’re available to speak to you before you make your application so, if you’re not quite sure if your skills match the role, or just check any of the details in this advert, please do email us via with subject line ‘Usher’ to arrange a chat.
