Role Description The Financial Director is a volunteer role responsible for overseeing the Theatre’s financial strategy and governance, ensuring long‑term sustainability and compliance.
This hybrid position is based in Bury St Edmunds, with the option to complete some duties from home.
Day‑to‑day tasks include reviewing financial statements and reports, monitoring cash flow, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with the senior leadership team.
The Financial Director will provide analytical insights to support decision‑making, advise on risk management, and help maintain robust financial controls and policies.
The role also involves attending board and committee meetings, contributing to financial discussions, and supporting fundraising and strategic initiatives when required.
Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in Finance and Financial Planning, with the ability to support budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial strategy.
Experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting Financial Statements and Financial Reporting for senior leadership or boards.
Strong Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear recommendations.
Knowledge of charity or non‑profit finance, including governance, compliance, and risk management, is highly beneficial.
Professional accounting qualification (e. g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience in a senior finance role.
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholders and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
