Bristol Riverside Theatre seeks an ArtRageous Summer Camp Youth Counselor who is passionate about positively impacting the lives of youth. Ideal candidates are assertive individuals who are experienced in working with children and teens in an art educational environment. ArtRageous is a free 4-week summer camp for youth ages 7-17. Our mission is to build/strengthen the confidence, independence, decision-making skills, and leadership abilities of campers through the exploration of various mediums of artistic expression. We strive for campers to develop a greater appreciation for creative endeavors in the performing arts through new experiences and exposure to an array of creative mediums.

Youth Counselors are mentors who support and guide campers in their day-to-day activities at camp. Must be comfortable working within a high energy and team-oriented environment. We are seeking organized individuals who have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to effectively facilitate teambuilding activities with campers, and are attentive to the social and emotional well-being of campers.

Dates:

  • Staff Training: June 29th, 30th, July 1st – 8:00 am-4:00pm
  • Camp: June 29th- July 30 (4 weeks), Monday-Thursday (8am-3pm)
  • Closing Admin Day: July 31

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Foster a positive, safe, and empowering environment for all campers
  • Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate lessons, games, and activities for various skill levels
  • Lead by example while encouraging teamwork, creativity, and camper participation in classes and showcase preparation

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

  • Experience working with children and teens in a summer camp, educational, or creative environment
  • Experience in the performing arts a plus but not required
  • Strong communication, organization, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible, proactive, and supportive in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of classroom management and strategies to support youth with behavioral needs
