The FAW is looking to recruit a Performance Analyst. The purpose of the role is to support the Performance Analyst Lead in undertaking effective performance analysis for the Cymru Men’s National Squad and to undertake performance analysis support of the Cymru Men’s youth squads. The role will include mentoring students on the performance analysis placement scheme and contributing to the implementation of the Our Wales – High Performance Strategy.

Key Areas of Accountability or Responsibility

  • Support analysis provision for the senior national squad as directed by the Performance Analysis Lead
  • Undertake opposition analysis for national squads and present in appropriate manner to coaches and players
  • Undertake post-match analysis for national squads and present in appropriate manner to coaches and players in line with Welsh Way Playing Philosophy and specific game plans
  • Database and archive of national squad matches, training sessions, best practice library and supporting analysis work
  • Distribute videos and information for national squads via online platform
  • Benchmark national squad performances against successful teams in line with FAW What It Takes To Win metrics
  • Develop and maximise relationships with national squad coaches including proactively contributing to tactical game plans and long-term development of team playing style and philosophy
  • Develop contemporary resources for inclusion in training and education programmes for coaches and players
  • Organise performance analysis equipment (hardware & software) for the national squads
  • Recruit & mentor individuals on the student placement scheme where appropriate
  • Utilise and develop workflows and working practices in line with FAW High Performance Strategy
  • Undertake additional analysis support work across all programmes when required and as directed by the Head of Performance Analysis and Football Insights
  • Proactively undertake a programme of personal and professional development

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Performance Analysis or related subject
  • UEFA B Licence (or above)
  • Professional accreditation as a performance analyst or undertaken recognised performance analysis courses

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of contemporary video analysis technology and software applications
  • Excellent understanding of contemporary coaching practice in football
  • Understanding of databasing and visualisation tools and software
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh

Experience

  • Experienced in providing performance analysis support at the elite football level in football
  • Experienced in utilising video analysis software such as Nodiant Coder, Sportscode, SBG Focus, Angles, Nacsport or similar
  • Experienced in utilising annotation software such as RT Tactic, Coach Paint, Klipdraw, Metrica or similar
  • Experience of working directly with coaches and players
  • Experienced in undertaking and presenting comprehensive opposition analysis
  • Experienced in gathering, analysing and visualising data as an integrated part of the analysis process
  • Experience of mentoring process
  • Experienced in producing detailed, accurate work under strict time‑constraints
  • Experience of national squad camp environment
  • Experienced in building and developing databases and dashboard systems for analysis and benchmark purposes
  • Experience of creating analysis resources for coach education

Role Specific Requirements

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS with list checks. You should also have access to a car or the ability to travel between camps and the ability to undertake international travel.
