JOB FUNCTION: To oversee the talent identification of players from U13-U21 in the North UK region, through the scouting of matches, the gathering of insight and intelligence and the management of a scouting workforce.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Scouting
- Attend live matches and watch games on video, to produce detailed, objective player reports in line with the CFC scouting standards, procedures and timeframes.
- Provide player recommendations supported by evidence-based observations and clear rationale.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts within clubs in the North Region including Sports Directors, Academy Managers, Coaches, Agents, and other key stakeholders.
- Undertake video clipping of highlighted players to support internal discussions and decision making.
- Assist in the gathering of context, background information and wider intelligence on key players of interest.
- Scout at tournaments as required (International travel for scouting coverage may be required as part of the role).
- Maintain up to date knowledge on the in-house players at Chelsea FC from U13-U21.
- Undertake video clipping of players within the region and support the recruitment team with the production of documentation to assist the recruitment process when required.
- Work on any other scouting project as required by Chelsea FC.
- Regional Management
- Manage the scout(s) within the region and maintain regular communication including quarterly regional staff meetings.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the football environment and player base within the North Region.
- Coordinate fixture coverage of yourself and other part-time staff to maximise efficiency and quality of scouting in the region.
- Maintain player lists to highlight the best talent within the North on a monthly basis, amalgamating the opinions of all scouts in the region.
- Represent the North scouting cell at scout meetings.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
- Qualifications:
- Valid Passport and driving licence.
- Minimum of FA Level 2 Talent ID Qualification or UEFA B Coaching Licence.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ scouting experience at a professional level, including management of staff or a project.
- Extensive knowledge of the geographic area and key football networks within it.
- Production of clear, concise, and insightful scouting reports with attention to detail.
- Comfortable in relaying information clearly to senior staff.
- Highly computer literate in office suite and capability to learn to use in-house systems.
- Familiarity with video analysis or clipping software.
