We are looking for the right person to lead the provision of performance analysis to all Academy age groups, and to offer additional support within the wider Academy environment to promote the development of well‑rounded individuals. The successful candidate will be able to communicate complex data to a variety of audiences, will be able to work to strict deadlines with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, will have the ability to implement a variety of feedback techniques into complex sporting environments, will have a strong work ethic and understanding of the demands of the role.

Key Accountabilities

  • To lead the performance analysis programme to all age groups within the academy ensuring the holistic development of well‑rounded individuals.
  • To deliver performance analysis support to the Under 21 squad, contributing to training analysis, pre‑match planning and post‑match feedback/feedforward.
  • To contribute to multidisciplinary support in line with individual learning plans.
  • To design and oversee management of performance data for all age groups within the academy.
  • To ensure production of relevant video materials to support the broader academy programme.
  • To ensure production of relevant video materials to support the release of players for all age groups.
  • To support the benchmarking of all Full‑Time players to aid development.
  • To liaise with all relevant staff, including 1st team, to ensure that information, relevant to duties, is communicated effectively.
  • To ensure player welfare is always the primary consideration.
  • To adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to Reading Football Club and its operation.
  • There is an expectation that you will undertake adhoc work on an exceptional basis or provide relevant cover for other team tasks.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Essential: BSc in performance analysis, or related discipline.
  • Desirable: MSc in Performance Analysis or related discipline.

Experience

  • Essential: Previous experience of working as a performance analyst.
  • Essential: Experience of providing performance analysis support to athletic populations.
  • Essential: Experience of working and dealing with large group sizes.
  • Essential: Experience of delivering performance feedback to a variety of audiences.
  • Essential: Experience of working in youth development.
  • Desirable: Experience of working within an elite sporting environment.
  • Desirable: Experience in the preparation and delivery of CPD workshops and presentations.
  • Desirable: Experience using and presenting feedback from various analytical software to include Hudl, Instat, Opta and Sports Code.

Knowledge

  • Essential: Understanding of key performance indicator concepts and their application to a sporting environment.
  • Desirable: An understanding of the EPPP process.
