Lead Academy Analyst | Bath Rugby (Jobs in Sports Performance Analysis The ASPA)

Bath Rugby are seeking a Lead Academy Analyst to deliver high-quality performance analysis across the club's Academy pathway and University of Bath partnership.

This exciting role will see you combine video, data, and performance evidence to provide clear, actionable insights that support player development and coach decision-making.

Alongside leading analysis provision within the University partnership, you'll recruit, coordinate, and develop student interns while helping to drive best practice across the Academy performance analysis programme.

  • Performance Analysis
  • Deliver filming, coding, and post-match analysis across Academy age groups and the University of Bath partnership.
  • Capture and analyse training sessions, fixtures, festivals, and development events.
  • Collect, code, and organise footage from loan clubs, partner organisations, and age-grade international fixtures involving Academy players.
  • Coordinate analysis workflows to ensure timely, high-quality delivery aligned with Academy priorities.
  • Player Development & Coaching Support
  • Provide technical and tactical insights through video and performance evidence.
  • Work with coaches to establish analysis priorities, feedback objectives, and review timelines.
  • Deliver player statistics, video clips, and performance feedback to support Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
  • Help players develop self‑analysis and reflective learning skills through video review.
  • Performance Insights & Decision Support
  • Contribute analysis to Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and player case conferences.
  • Monitor individual and positional development over time, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support talent identification and player transition discussions with evidence‑based analysis.
  • Leadership & Partnership Development
  • Act as the day‑to‑day analysis lead for the University of Bath partnership.
  • Recruit, onboard, coordinate, and mentor student performance analysis interns.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with University and Academy stakeholders.
  • Support the continuous improvement of analysis systems, workflows, databases, and technology.
  • Practical experience delivering performance analysis within rugby or another high‑performance team sport.
  • Strong experience using video capture, coding, and analysis platforms such as
  • Hudl Sportscode

(or equivalent).

  • Ability to translate video, data, and performance evidence into actionable coaching insights.
  • Excellent organisational skills with experience managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary performance environments.
  • Ability to produce clear performance reports and data visualisations.
  • High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating and supporting the work of others.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, matchdays, and travel between delivery sites.
  • Experience within academy or youth performance pathways.
  • Experience supporting adolescent athlete development.
  • Experience working within university or educational sporting environments.
  • Experience recruiting or mentoring interns or placement students.
  • Understanding of rugby talent pathways and player transitions.
  • Experience supporting athlete self‑analysis and reflective learning.
