Blackburn Rovers FC are seeking an experienced
Head of Performance Analysis to lead the club’s analysis provision, combining tactical expertise, video analysis and data-driven insight to support First Team performance and the wider development of the club’s analysis strategy.
The Role
Reporting directly to the
Head of Technical Development and collaborating closely with the First Team Coach, coaching staff and Data Science department, the successful candidate will lead the Performance Analysis department and provide actionable insights that enhance coaching, match preparation and player development.
Key Responsibilities
- First Team Analysis & Match Preparation
- Provide tactical insights aligned to the club’s playing philosophy and game model.
- Combine visual and data-driven analysis to support coaching decisions.
- Lead the development of pre-match, live and post-match analysis.
- Travel with the First Team to all fixtures and provide live coding.
- Record and analyse training sessions, translating findings into actionable feedback for coaches and players.
- Help develop the club’s Performance Analysis strategy across the
First Team, U21 and Academy .
- Work closely with the Head Coach and Head of Technical Development to align analysis processes with strategic objectives.
- Lead and manage tactical analysis while promoting a multidisciplinary approach.
- Oversee and support work-placement students within the department.
- Collaborate with the Data Scientist to assess the implementation and effectiveness of the club’s game model.
- Develop a library of tactical best-practice examples and methodologies.
- Maintain technical and tactical statistical databases.
- Deliver individual and group analysis sessions tailored to player development.
- Produce supporting resources for coaching and match preparation.
- Explore emerging analysis technologies, platforms and methodologies.
- Drive continuous improvement across the department.
- Contribute to the club’s research programme, working towards the publication of two tactical/performance analysis peer-reviewed papers per season .
- What They're Looking For
Applicants should demonstrate
- High-level tactical and technical understanding of football.
- Previous Performance Analysis experience within an elite senior football environment .
- Experience managing a Performance Analysis department.
- Football coaching experience or experience as a senior coaching analyst.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Competency with
Hudl, Sportscode, Wyscout, Coach Paint/Piero, IMPECT and Microsoft Office .
- Experience using wide-angle cameras and video capture equipment.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in
Sports Science, Sports Coaching or a related discipline .
UEFA A Licence , or currently working towards.
- Valid UK Driving Licence – desirable.
