Engineering Production & Materials Coordinator

The Agency is recruiting for a Production & Materials Coordinator to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands engineering metal, materials and manufacturing and wants to develop into a varied role combining production coordination, stock control, planning and technical systems.

The role:

• Coordinate materials and preparation requirements against the production schedule.
• Manage and maintain accurate stock and inventory information.
• Work closely with production and materials teams to track stock and availability.
• Plan and prioritise work in line with manufacturing deadlines.
• Allocate work to appropriate production equipment based on capacity and requirements.
• Use specialist manufacturing software to manage production and material information.
• Support the programming and efficient processing of materials.
• Read and interpret technical and fabrication drawings.
• Help maximise material usage and minimise unnecessary waste.
• Monitor production progress and keep internal systems accurate and up to date.
• Maintain material identification and traceability throughout the process.
• Work closely with shop-floor and production management teams to resolve issues and keep work moving.

What we're looking for:

• We're particularly interested in people who have worked within fabrication, metal processing, engineering or a similar manufacturing environment.
• A good understanding of plate, sections, grades and dimensions.
• Experience within production, materials, stock control, planning or manufacturing.
• An understanding of how materials move through a manufacturing environment.
• Confidence reading technical or engineering drawings.
• Strong IT skills and the ability to pick up specialist manufacturing systems.
• Good organisation and the ability to juggle changing production priorities.
• A practical, logical approach to solving problems.
• The confidence to communicate with people across both the shop floor and office.
• Experience with production planning, stock-management, nesting or manufacturing software would be advantageous, although training can be provided for someone with the right steel knowledge and aptitude.

Who could this suit?

Your current job title isn't particularly important. You could currently be a Production Planner, Materials Controller, Production Coordinator, Stock Controller, Production Scheduler, Manufacturing Coordinator or Fabrication Coordinator. Equally, you might be working within a steel processing or fabrication environment and looking to take your practical knowledge into your first technical office-based role. What matters is that you understand metal and manufacturing, you're organised, technically minded and you want to develop.
