We’re recruiting a People Advisor to provide additional support to help drive change and provide group-wide functional expertise in a variety of key areas.
This role would suit a passionate people person with at least 3 years’ experience.
The role is classed as hybrid, requiring presence in our Edinburgh office for a minimum of 2 days per week.
What you’ll do
Talent
- You will help attract and recruit new talent across a variety of job functions
- You will act as the HR point of contact for a number of departments across the business building relationships with managers and key personnel
- Handle employee relations and performance management for the areas you oversee
- You will play a significant role in people engagement and wellbeing across the group.
- Coordinate and liaise with managers and staff and be able to coach, mentor and advise as/when required.
Learning & Development
- You will be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements and be able to plan delivery accordingly,
- You will be able to assist in developing an in-house learning and development programme using a variety of different learnings (classroom based, e-learning, online, external courses, technical skills, soft skills etc) to ensure people have access to development and any learning is cost effective, beneficial and a good return on investment.
- To coordinate and liaise with managers and staff in relation to training and development and be able to step in and communicate as/when required, on Teams, by phone or by email.
Reporting & Data Management
- You will be able to provide key accurate people-related reports on a regular basis, including but not limited to headcount, absence, and turnover across the group.
- You will be able to track employee turnover and report on the reasons for peaks and troughs on a departmental basis.
- You will use your experience to understand what detail is required at the appropriate time and develop new reports as and when required, flagging anomalies or key issues when required.
- You will ensure the People system is accurate and any information is kept up to date to ensure effective data management.
- You will assist in the collation of information for payroll each month, liaising with the Payroll Manager, People Operations Lead and other People Advisors as/when required, with the aim of ensuring high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
General
- You will create new starter packs for new employees, ensuring accurate Terms & Conditions and new starter details are created
- You will assist in the creation of induction plans and onboarding processes for new starters as required.
- You will be able to work with a wide range of stakeholders to understand their world views so that the requirements meet a broad range of expectations and be comfortable in challenging these views.
- You will use your experience to understand what detail is required at the appropriate time.
- You will work closely with the Group Head of HR and People Operations Lead to drive change and improve engagement and retention.
- To coordinate and liaise with managers and staff in relation and be able to step in and communicate as/when required, on Teams, by phone or by email.
- You will have project management skills to assist in project delivery in a timely and efficient manner, with the ability to raise risks, issues and mitigations for each.
- To be a central point of contact.
- To provide support to other members of the People team as and when required.
- Be able to establish effective, constructive and collaborative relationships with other company departments.
- Assisting with tasks out with job description when required / as appropriate.
Who you are
- You will have previous experience within a fast-paced HR/people role.
- You will have excellent attention to detail and be able to prioritise tasks effectively, ensuring business demands are met.
- You will be comfortable acting as a ‘go to’ person to help get things done.
- As a natural, confident and clear communicator you will have experience liaising within technical and non-technical teams and across organisational boundaries. You will also be able to communicate with directors. Your communication will be second to none.
- You will be motivated by getting things done, and getting them done in the right way, first time.
- Using your communication skills, you will keep key stakeholders aware of progress against project plans and help mitigate risks, provide contingency plans and options.
- You will have strong analytical and Excel skills and be able to create bespoke reports.
- Experience of project management

- PC literate (all MS Office suite) and aptitude to pick up new software packages quickly.
- Planning and organisational skills; able to establish efficient and appropriate plans for self and others and adapt quickly and effectively to unexpected changes whilst still ensuring objectives are met.

Desirable
- Knowledge of Tech and/or Hospitality industry would be an advantage.
The role will involve some home and some office based work within the People and Talent team, reporting to the People Operations Lead and ultimately to the Group Head of HR.
Company offices are in locations across the UK, and while some travel to these offices may be required, this role will be largely based from our Head Office in Edinburgh. The demanding nature of this role may require flexibility in working hours.
