Location: Yeovil, Somerset

Salary: £27,390 plus £2,500 R&R allowance per year

Permanent, Full Time

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognised relevant qualification or willingness to undertake training within a year of appointment

  • Experience of supporting men and women who experience/perpetrate domestic abusive and violent behaviours

  • Experience of undertaking strengths, needs & risk assessments

  • Experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working

  • Experience of motivational interviewing

  • Knowledge of educational group work and dynamics and facilitation

  • Knowledge of the function of the MARAC

  • Knowledge of civil and criminal remedies and the legal system as it relates to those engaged in domestic abusive relationships

  • Knowledge of best practice in relation to children, young people and families experiencing domestic abuse

  • Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of domestic abuse and how best to support perpetrators

  • Knowledge of and commitment to diversity and inclusion

  • Knowledge of local, regional and national domestic violence and abuse agencies

  • Skilled at effective crisis resolution

  • Skilled at IT including office packages such as excel, power point and word

  • Ability to effectively engage people and motivate clients

  • Ability to work flexibility and deliver a 24/7 on call service with others

  • Ability to work across Somerset and travel for training and meeting purposes

  • Car driver with use of car for work purposes

The Role:

The role of the Behaviour Change Worker, is to work closely with people whose behaviours are causing harm to others, and where those behaviours and actions are considered domestic violence or abuse.

You will work proactively from the point of referral to provide high quality assessments and interventions to those who use abusive behaviours in their intimate or familial relationships.

The role involves multi agency working and engaging with local partners and the wider SIDAS team who will support victims of violence and abuse. Effective partnership working is essential to increase safety and reduce risk and effectively change behaviours. By actively engaging with the person causing harm, you will be able to identify what is going wrong for them, be it alcohol or drug dependencies, mental health, housing or past issues and support them into services.

You will be able to offer people the support they need to address issues that may be drivers to their abusive behaviour.
