Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent to Diploma/Degree/NVQ5 or equivalent work level experience
  • Nationally recognised IDVA qualification or willingness to commence/complete IDVA training within a year of appointment
  • Experience of supporting women, men and children who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse
  • Experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working
  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice and how it relates to domestic abuse
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of domestic abuse and how best to support victims and survivors

The Role:

The role of the IDVA is to work closely with people who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse and assessed as high/medium risk and where targeted and specialist support is required. All IDVAs provide high quality advocacy and support, identifying other members of the family and children, who may also be at risk. The role involves multi-agency working and engaging with local partners and receiving referrals from and attending/preparing reports for court and other meetings such as the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and other victim focused meetings. You will provide one to one sessions to high-risk victim survivors and work specifically with partners, including health to ensure people accessing or working in healthcare access the Paragon Team. You will also be part of a training team and work in close partnerships to build sustainable relationships in our communities.
