YOU is a registered charity that has been providing care, support and advice for over 30 years to vulnerable people, working across Hampshire, Portsmouth, Somerset, Dorset, Sussex and the Isle of Wight to give them the tools and resources they need to live independent, secure and valued lives.

The Senior Family Saf safeguarding DA Worker (SDAW) is part of a team working with families where there is an ongoing history of domestic abuse to achieve goals and improve outcomes. In addition to work with individuals and families, you are responsible for supervision with workers, practice development, case management, case audits, database oversight and supporting delivery of this service within a multi-agency team. You will hold a caseload, complete needs-led assessments, design and deliver agreed interventions to safeguard adults and children, and broker additional support where indicated. The post holder will be confident in their knowledge and responsible for raising awareness of and supporting others in the FST to understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and its impact on individuals and their children.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting women, men and children who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse on a 1:1 or group work basis
  • Experience of providing case management with DVA workers
  • Experience of completing and building on strengths, needs and risk assessments
  • Experience of responding calmly and effectively to people in crisis or emergency
  • Understanding of domestic violence and abuse issues affecting families
  • Have a full UK Drivers Licence
  • Be Female*

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work and support the Paragon team to deliver the service in line with the service specification, KPIs and YOU processes, policies and procedures
  • Provide practical and emotional support to clients experiencing domestic violence and abuse
  • Co-produce individual safety and support plans with clients and ensure SMART actions are carried out
  • Complete evidenced-based risk assessments, such as the DASH RIC, addressing risk of harm to each person and their children and wider family (when required)
  • Be part of a team that participates in MARAC, ensuring outcomes are communicated to the client and incorporated into interventions and risk plans
  • Work with internal and external partners to advocate on behalf of all victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse
  • Develop and maintain effective professional working relationships internally and externally for the best interests of clients
  • Provide regular supervision with the DVA team and carry out regular case reviews in line with national recommended case management practice
