What I will do

  • I will work within the YOU Trust’s safeguarding policies and am responsible for reporting and escalation, following YOU’s safeguarding and IRF processes

  • I will work with the Senior SPOC to review client allocations for counsellors, where required
  • I will form and maintain a supervisory alliance with counsellors and ensure an effective working process within the group
  • I will maintain appropriate professional boundaries with counsellors, providing confidential supervision to support their development detailing clearly the limits of that confidentiality with regards to unsafe practice
  • I will structure supervision sessions in collaboration with counsellors, ensuring that each member of YOU Counselling is enabled to present and reflect on their clinical work
  • I will use a range of methods to help the supervisor develop the quality and effectiveness of their counselling for the benefit of their clients and give accurate and constructive feedback on their work
  • I will foster self‑awareness of each counsellor’s level of knowledge, experience and stage of professional development and support with identifying appropriate CPD and training
  • I will support the counsellors to monitor their well‑being and fitness to practice, encouraging the use of their own personal therapy and other support resources if issues are identified
  • I will ensure the counsellors assess and manage risk issues, specifically with regards to safe and ethical practice
  • I will carry out case management, ensuring all notes are kept to a high standard and updated to the case management system within 48 hrs of each session
  • I will hold a case load of clients and attend clinical supervision with my peers and supervisor
  • I am committed to my professional development and maintaining my own BACP accreditation
