Essential Requirements
- Have an awareness of the factors that can put people at risk of homelessness and of the impact this can have on wider health and wellbeing.
- Have a broad skills and knowledge base including knowledge of housing related support; housing law; debt; welfare benefits; welfare reform and universal credit.
- Have experience of working with a diverse range of client groups.
- Hold a full driving license with access to a vehicle.
The Role

Our service recognises the importance of positive health and wellbeing and aims to support people to maintain their independence and prevent the escalation of problems that could impact on this.
As a Community Health Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Managing your own caseload, providing one to one support in a client’s own home or the community.
- Supporting clients via drop‑ins (local to your area of work).
- Providing practical support for example navigating an individual through a housing application, benefits application or budgeting.
- Encouraging individuals to gain access to resources that they may not have been aware of that support positive health and wellbeing for example community services, social groups, peer support, addiction services.
- Partnership working with a range of agencies and organisations, often advocating on a client’s behalf.
- Regular meetings at the local office in Dorchester.
- Travel across Dorset to meet the needs of our clients and service.
