Commis Chef

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about delivering traditional pub food cooked well, and eager to develop their skills within a professional hospitality environment. The position is paid and suitable for those with a keen interest in food production and team collaboration.

We will require cooking of Breakfasts, Lunches and evening meals.

Will consider apprentice as an approved training provider.

Duties

• Assist in preparing ingredients and components for various dishes according to recipes and standards
• Support senior chefs in cooking, plating, and presentation of meals
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
• Follow hygiene protocols to ensure a safe kitchen environment
• Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage
• Support team members during busy service periods, ensuring smooth kitchen operations
• Contribute to the development of new menu items by providing input based on culinary knowledge and experience

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food production, kitchen operations, or hospitality is essential
• Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
• Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
• Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
• Experience in cooking, food preparation, or restaurant environments is advantageous
• A passion for creating home-cooked traditional meals is essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £24,420.00-£34,235.92 per year
