Maintenance Officer
Salary: £29,203 per annum
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, plus a rolling on-call rota

We are looking for a hands-on and reliable Maintenance Officer to keep our homes and buildings safe, welcoming and well cared for. Working across all our sites, from supported accommodation to move-on properties, you will help young people feel settled, secure and proud of their home as they build towards independence.
You will work respectfully in people’s homes, maintaining appropriate boundaries and showing young people they are valued.
The role
You will:
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs across our properties, replacing damaged or worn-out items.
- Complete pre-let checks and routine maintenance so rooms and flats are ready for new residents.
- Assist with statutory inspections and testing, including fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, legionella, water, PAT and electrical safety.
- Keep accurate records and promptly report any non-compliance or safety concerns.
- Move, dismantle and reassemble furniture, and keep approaches safe in bad weather.
- Receive deliveries, including heavy items, and give contractors access to the right areas.
- Work with the maintenance team on joint tasks and flag where additional skilled labour is needed.
- Take part in the on-call rota and build positive links with colleagues across the organisation.
About you:
You will be practical, reliable and professional, with:
- A formal trade qualification, or at least 3 years’ experience as a tradesperson.
- An understanding of general maintenance and basic knowledge of trades such as joinery and plumbing.
- The ability to assess risk, keep accurate records and supervise contractors and suppliers.
- An understanding of social housing and landlord responsibilities.
- A current driving licence and willingness to travel between our properties.
- The flexibility to respond calmly to changing priorities, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- A commitment to high standards, teamwork and treating everyone with respect.
- A Health & Safety qualification, training in First Aid or Safeguarding, and access to a vehicle are desirable.
