The Y Canberra Accommodation Services team are currently on the lookout for Food & Beverage Attendants. The Y Canberra Region have two accommodation sites, Leumeah Lodge in Nicholls and Bush Capital Lodge in O’Connor, which predominantly host school groups, community groups and free independent travellers. The Accommodation Services team form part of the wider Y Canberra Region organisation, which provides services to our community such as health and recreation, childcare, and early childhood learning centres.
Role
The primary focus of this role is to assist the kitchen with running a smooth operation for our customers and when required, to work on the floor as a food and beverage attendant.
Hours Required
Ability to work predominantly Monday-Friday, with flexibility to work weekends when required. We are looking to fill our breakfast and lunch shifts, with hours ranging from 4.30am – 12pm.
Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Serving buffet style meals
- Provide assistance to chefs in basic meal preparation such as sandwich making and adhering to dietary requirements
- Clearing and cleaning tables, reset hall and buffet areas
- General cleaning duties in a kitchen and food preparation areas such as cleaning of dishes including cooking utensils, plates, glasses and cutlery
- Prepare barista coffee for guests
Key Skills And Attributes
- Have previous experience within a similar role (desired but not essential)
- Experience in barista coffee making or a willingness to learn
- Basic Food Hygiene and Supervising Food Safety Certificate (desired but not essential)
- Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or can be obtained prior to position start)
- Be well-presented and maintain professional appearance
- Have a positive customer-centric attitude
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, with mornings being the priority
- Hold a current driver’s license or have the ability to work across sites as required
